The Physics of Snap-On Magnetic Attachment
Since the introduction of magnetic charging rings, the consumer experience has shifted from fumbling with alignment cables to an intuitive, tactile snap. However, not all magnetic rings are engineered equally.
In budget third-party cases, manufacturers often use low-grade N35 or N42 sintered ferrite rings. These suffer from weak magnetic coupling, frequent detachment on vehicular bumps, and thermal buildup during sustained fast-charging sessions.
Why Casemania Specifies N52 Grade Neodymium
Neodymium (NdFeB) grade designations reflect the maximum energy product (BHmax) of the magnetic material. N52 represents the highest commercially viable magnetic energy density currently manufactured:
- Holding Force: Over 1,200 grams of vertical retention force — 42% stronger than OEM bare phone specs.
- Gauss Rating: Consistent 2,400 Gauss field strength concentrated precisely along the charging flux perimeter.
- Electromagnetic Shielding: A 0.2mm Mu-metal backplate prevents stray magnetic eddy currents from interfering with internal compass sensors, NFC antennas, or camera optical image stabilization (OIS) gyroscopes.
Thermal Dissipation During 15W Fast Charging
Wireless induction generates heat inside both the primary charging coil and the case boundary. By pairing our N52 ring with an ultra-thin anodized heat spreader, Casemania cases maintain operating temperatures up to 3.8°C cooler during peak Qi2 charging cycles.
